Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:
To introduce students to the underlying principles of French law and to outline the legal framework within which firms in France operate in specific domains.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
* show an understanding of the French legal system and the basic principles of French Business law;
* read and understand legal documents in French;
* understand and use appropriately French legal terminology.

Skills:
Skills in critical analysis, conceptual thinking, precision in the use of written and spoken language, exercise of independent judgement, reasoned argument, teamwork, and the planning/conduct/reporting of non-quantitative research are taught and assessed in this unit. Language skills are developed in this unit.

Content:
Introduction to the French legal system (Organisation of the judiciary, Political Institutions and Constitutional law, Legal procedure and legal methods); Principles of French business Law (Company law, Law of Obligations and Contracts, Employment law). The unit is taught in French.
