Further information on descriptions Description: Aims:

* To ensure students meet both the Standards of Proficiency (HCPC) and Professional Capabilities Framework (TCSW) in relation to work with children and families.
* To enable students to develop their knowledge, skills and values so that they are better able to work with children and their families in multi-professional settings and in private, voluntary and social enterprise organisations.
* With support identify appropriate responses to safeguard vulnerable people and promote their wellbeing.
* This Unit builds on students' prior learning from personal and/or professional experience and from previous study, including Social Work with Children and Families 1 (SP20246).

Learning Outcomes:
After completing the unit, students should have a knowledge and understanding of:
1. Significant policy developments in relation to children and child care services in England; PCF 8.1; 8.3
2. The key areas of legislation for statutory social work in relation to fostering, adoption, and looked after children PCF 5.2
3. Children and youth justice and the roles and responsibilities of the social worker; PCF 1.2
4. Methods of intervention with children and with adults. PCF 5.8
5. Students should also be prepared to: Undertake work with individual children, families, carers and other professionals; PCF 2.4; 2.5; 2.6
6. Understand how to assess needs and analyse risks to children; PCF 7.4; 7.5;7.6;7.7

8. Recognise the factors that exacerbate or create risk to individuals, their families or carers, to the public or to
