Description: Aims:
To introduce qualitative research in sport and exercise, examining the philosophical foundations of research, exploring core methods in qualitative research, and putting qualitative research in dialogue with contemporary issues in sport and exercise.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Explain the epistemologies and ontologies underpinning research in sport and exercise
2. Discuss the diversity of research approaches in sport and exercise
3. Identify foundational qualitative research methods
4. Apply qualitative research methods to address� issues in sport and exercise
5. Recognise and describe approaches to qualitative research and apply appropriately to issues in sport and exercise.

* Philosophical foundations of research: Epistemology and Ontology
* Framing qualitative research project: Purposes and questions
* Core methods of qualitative research: Interviews, Observations, and Textual Analysis
* Research ethics in qualitative research.
