Description: Aims:
To give an overview of the business processes and context of the current automotive industry and how these are implemented in practice.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to:
* explain the commercial landscape and trends of the automotive industry
* summarize the way a propulsion system is designed, developed, manufactured, and used
* explain the implications of responsible research and innovation in an automotive context
* summarize the regulatory framework that governs the automotive propulsion industry
* explain the theory and application of business processes in automotive propulsion industry.

Content:
The course will provde a series of lectures and guest lectures covering the following topics, including their practical implementation:
* introduction to the V-process of systems engineering and its practical implementations
* legislation and regulation framework of the automotive propulsion industry
* business practices (6 sigma, Just-in-time, DFMEA, project management)
* strategic planning of running an automotive company - programme planning group person
* design and development of sustainable propulsion systems (triple bottom line).
