Aims: To design a research project in the field of childhood, youth and education studies.

Learning Outcomes: In completing this unit, students will have:
* Developed an appropriate 'Introduction' section comprising a definitive problem statement, justification, and, rationale for the study;
* Placed their proposed research within the social, political, economic and educational context;
* Sought out, and written, a section that locates their project amongst previous scholarship;
* Developed a section that justifies, outlines and discusses the planned methodological approach.

* Ability to select, summarise and synthesis written information from multiple sources. F/A

Content: The unit is an independent research unit. Emphasis will be placed upon the development of an independent research project. Support will be provided throughout the semester by the unit leader and through facilitation of a network of assigned tutors. Electronic support will be available on Moodle. Students will be required to discuss and agree an overall project design with their respective tutors.
