Requisites:
Aims: The activities of this unit will enable students to bridge the mathematical techniques they acquired in previous units with real-world problem solving in an industrial context. Students will put into practice the basic principles of industrial application and scope their summer project in collaboration with an industry partner.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this unit students will be able to:
* Conceptualise project-management skills, completing their work to specifications and deadlines and communicating effectively with clients.
* Prepare mathematical solutions to case studies.
* Associate principles of industrial collaboration and problem solving in order to formulate an industrially oriented thesis project.
* Design a project, by synthesizing problem solving, project management and project scoping knowledge and skills.

Skills: Project design, project management, preparing mathematical solutions for an industrial client.

Content: Students will work on:
* Scoping the summer project.
* 2 case studies accommodated to the groups they split into, according to their focus subjects: applied maths, stats, data science, or combinations of these.
* The unit will be concluded with Problem Formulation Workshop.
