Description: Aims:
The key objective of this course is to:
* Introduce China's business environment
* Help students attain familiarity with major differences between doing business in China and the West
* Provide students with theoretical framework and practical knowledge about how to do business in China.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit, candidates should be able to:
* Develop a detailed understanding of the evolution and development of China's economic reform
* Develop a detailed understanding of the relationship between Chinese government and business
* Develop a detailed understanding of its industrial structure and analyse its competitive advantage in selected industries.

Intellectual and practical ability to
(i) Compare and contrast business environments in China against other countries (TFA),
(ii) Analyse and interpret data to draw logical conclusions across a range of variables relating to doing business in China (F),
(iii) Synthesise theories and models as they apply to modern Chinese business landscapes (TFA).

The course introduces students to the core perspectives, themes, and issues in doing business in China.
* China's business environment and industry structures
* The interaction between national culture and globalization process
* Business opportunities, strategies and challenges related to entrepreneurship, innovation, multinational enterprises, consumer behaviours and human resource management in China.
