Requisites:
Aims: The aims of this unit are:
* To provide students with a critical understanding of the range and use of counselling in forensic settings.
* To provide students with some practice based skills in counselling useful in forensic settings.

Learning Outcomes: After completing this unit students will:
* Be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of the range of counselling available for forensic psychologists.
* Have developed counselling skills applicable to range of settings and client groups in forensic psychology.

* The ability to critically evaluate and assess research and evidence as well as a variety of other information.

Content: This unit will provide students with:
* Basic counselling skills applicable to a range of forensic settings
* An introduction to a range different models of counselling applicable to forensic psychology
* The opportunity to develop and practice a range of counselling skills which are used in forensic settings - for example cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational Interviewing, empathetic listening, person centred skills and formulation.
