| Aims: | The aims of this unit are:
* To provide students with the opportunity to develop skills as a scientist-practitioner by working closely with a psychologist or other suitably qualified professional working in a forensic setting. This provides an excellent opportunity to put into practice some of the methods and theories that the students have learned during the programme and to build professional skills. |
| Learning Outcomes: | By the end of this unit, you will be able to:
* Experience working with and as a sciencist practitioner in a forensic setting * Develop the skills required as autonomous researchers and for team work. * Develop transferable skills that will prepare them for postgraduate employment or further study. * Develop skills in reflective practice, evidence-based practice and personal development. * Develop knowledge and experience ethical issues and practices within professional forensic settings. |

| Content: | The student will work alongside a psychologist or other suitably qualified professional in a forensic psychology setting.
* Take part in the daily life of the institution where they work, participate in meetings with other forensic professionals (e.g., Forensic Social Workers or Forensic Psychiatrists) and clients. * Involve themselves in on-going projects and activities in the institution where the student is on placement. * Undertake a research project that will be the basis of the students'dissertation. * Experience issues related to working with a range of different client groups. * Experience working with a scientist-practitioner in forensic settings. * The development of core skills in reflective practice, evidence-based practice and personal development. * Developing knowledge and experience ethical principles and practices within professional forensic settings. |
