Learning Outcomes: By the end of this unit, the student should be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of main HRM functions and practices adopted in today's organisations.
2. Explain the difference between key HRM functions
3. Explain the difference between key employee attitudes and behaviours.
4. Analyse and critique how HRM functions impact employee attitudes and behaviours.
5. Appraise how HRM functions impact individual and organisational level performance.
6. Appraise how organisations might improve specific HRM practices to positively impact individual and organisational level performance.
7. Analyse and critique how restructuring shape HRM functions as well as impact employee attitudes and behaviours.
8. Explain how cultural differences influence HRM functions and employee perceptions.

Aims: 1. The unit aims to build on the theoretical concepts of Principles of Organizational Behaviour and to illustrate how they apply to the Management of People.
2. It also gives a broad overview of major features of human resource management.
3. It provides examples from contemporary organizations.

Skills: 1. Critical awareness of current theoretical and practical issues in HRM field (T/A).
2. Ability to apply and analyse HRM theory to practical issues and problems (T/F/A)
3. Ability to apply subject-specific HRM knowledge into a range of situations such as case studies, exercises, and real life examples (T/F/A)
4. Ability to identify, analyse and discuss interconnections between HRM practices (T/F/A)
5. Ability to evaluate why employee attitudes and behaviour vary. (T/F/A)
6. Ability to discuss why employees might be managed in different ways (T/F/A)
7. Ability to analyse and discuss the link between HRM practices and organisational outcomes. (T/A)
