Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
* evaluate the nature and impact of globalisation on Germany;
* apply knowledge to analyse the opportunities and limitations globalisation represents for different regions and countries;
* critically evaluate the link between economic, social and political global developments;
* discuss issues raised in German.

Aims: The aim of this unit is to explore the economic, social and political impact of globalisation on Germany. Theoretical and historical frameworks will be applied by students to specific national or regional case studies to allow them to assess the multi-dimensional impact of globalisation on national economies and on individual firms.

Skills: Skills in critical analysis, conceptual thinking, precision in the use of written and spoken language, exercise of independent judgement, reasoned argument, teamwork and the planning/conduct/reporting of non-quantitative research are developed and assessed in this unit. Language skills are also developed in this unit.

Content: This course examines the effects of globalisation at the national and regional levels in Germany with particular emphasis on the business context. National and European adaptation strategies to globalisation as well as competing notions of globalisation's effects will be explored. Finally, the changes to the business environment will be analysed through individual firm case-studies. The unit is taught in German.
