Below are some FAQs that were raised during our telephone conversations with alumni.

Why will the University contact you?

As well as keeping you informed of developments and news from the University, we will also contact you to invite you to events and to share other benefits/services available to you, as an alumnu/as of the University and School. Fundraising is another aspect of our work - donations are a vital asset to the University (they provide scholarships, and fund new projects, research and buildings for example).

Why do we collect LinkedIn details?

We like to keep a record of our graduates’ LinkedIn profiles because this is a helpful platform to stay in touch and to also keep up to date with your career development after graduation. We highly recommend you join our School of Management Community LinkedIn group to see the latest news, events and updates from staff and graduates. Joining this group also means you can message other members for free even if you are not connected.

We recommend that you spend some time looking up people that you have met while studying, including your lecturers etc., and ask to connect with them. Continuing to build your network online could be very valuable to you in the future.

How can China-based alumni stay connected with Bath despite issues with the firewall in China?

If you haven’t already, we recommend that you join one of our We Chat groups so you can keep in touch with Bath. We currently have three We Chat groups (Beijing, Shanghai and Southern China). Please email alumni@management.bath.ac.uk for instructions on how to join.

How do I get my Bath graduate email account?

Hopefully you received the information you needed from Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) about the closure of your student email account (bath.ac.uk) following graduation. As a graduate, you can switch to a new BathMail account instead. Visit the website to see more information about obtaining your BathMail account.

How long will my information be kept on file?

We will hold your data indefinitely in support of your lifelong relationship with the University, or until you ask us to do otherwise. We will always respect a request by you to stop contact by any or all methods of communication, or for any specific purpose.
