The following conditions apply to the University's December 2021 graduation ceremonies.
Conditions of Entry
Arrangements are being made to prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of students, accompanying guests and staff. All those wishing to attend are advised that the safety measures in place for the ceremonies will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- As a condition of entry to the event, all attendees may be asked to show either an NHS COVID 19 pass, proof of double vaccination or a negative result from a lateral flow test taken within the previous 48 hours.
- All attendees will be asked to comply with University guidance in relation to the event such as the wearing of face coverings.
Should an attendee in possession of a valid ticket fail to respond to a reasonable request from University staff to comply with the conditions of entry, they may be asked to remain outside the ceremony venue.
- No attendee should attend the ceremonies if they have coronavirus symptoms, if they have been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case or have been asked to self-isolate.
Implications of the public health situation
Ceremony attendees are reminded that event arrangements will be guided by the latest public health advice, which remains subject to change at short notice. Whilst the UK Government is not enacting its ‘Plan B’ at the time of writing, it may well implement its published contingency measures this autumn or winter and it is possible that additional national or local restrictions may be imposed affecting the general public or Higher Education providers.
Please be aware that in the event that the planned ceremonies are cancelled, postponed or otherwise changed or in the event that a graduand or guest fails to comply with the conditions of entry, no liability will be accepted by the University for the costs of travel, accommodation or other arrangements entered into by graduands or guests.
