The Positive Involvement Committee (PIC) is charged with overseeing issues of communication, equality, diversity and community building within the Department. The Committee includes Postdoctoral, Postgraduate and Undergraduate representatives as well as representatives of technical, administrative and academic staff.
We are committed to promoting equality and diversity, and look to make continual improvements to the community of the department, to make it a pleasant place for all to work and study.
We hold an Athena SWAN Bronze award (Nov 2015), based on our plan to improve recruitment and retention of women at all levels of the department, and our achievements in this area to date.
We have an established Postdoc network and Postgraduate network, in addition to the long running ChemSoc which represents undergraduates. We run annual events such as the Great Chemistry Bake-Off and the summer party. PIC has funding available for activities which contribute to equality & diversity or communication within the department (see application form on the wiki).
