  • The scheme is open to part-time and full-time students, registered on one of the University‚Äôs doctoral programmes (PhD or Professional Doctorate).
  • Applicants studying on Professional Doctorate programmes must be in the research phase of their programme.
  • Applicants must be making good progress with their doctorate, evidenced by recent monitoring reports.
  • Priority will be given to activities that: bring together students from a number of different disciplines and build community across departments or institutions. The proposed activity must fill a gap in existing provision.
  • Applications will be judged on the following criteria: how realistic is the proposed activity, likely demand for the activity across the doctoral student community; and value for money.
  • Applications will be considered by the Doctoral College. The Doctoral College's decisions are final with no right of appeal.
  • Successful applicant(s) will be expected to carry out the activities outlined in their proposal, including, but not limited to: identifying and setting a suitable date for the activity, booking a suitable venue or room and arranging any necessary equipment and catering.
  • Funds cannot be used to pay full-time staff who are employed by the University of Bath.
  • Funds cannot be used to remunerate the student for their time in organising the event.
  • Successful applicants will normally be informed within two weeks after the submission deadline. If applicants do not hear within two weeks, please contact doctoralengagement@bath.ac.uk
  • Activities need to be completed within 4 months of receiving the funding.
  • Successful applicants will be required to submit a short evaluation report within one month of completion of the activity. Failure to do so may result in the funds you have received being repaid to the University upon demand.
  • Submitted reports, photographs and video may be used to publicise the fund and its work.
  • You may also be asked to participate in activity promoting the scheme.
  • Retrospective applications made after the activity has commenced will not normally be considered.
  • Candidates must acknowledge Doctoral College funding in any communications about the event.
  • Successful applicants can only receive funding once per year. Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to reapply for future funding rounds.
