Professors & non-professorial academic staff members of Academic Assembly to serve on Senate

The process for electing Professors and non-professorial academic staff members of Academic Assembly to serve on Senate.

Procedure

The process for electing Professors and non-professorial academic staff members of Academic Assembly to serve on Senate has changed following the Senate Effectiveness Review. Ordinance 8.12 provides full detail, but please note the following changes in particular:

  • There will be a single election for both Professors and non-professorial academic staff members of Academic Assembly
  • All members of Academic Assembly are eligible to vote for candidates to fill all vacancies, but will vote separately for Professorial and non-professorial academic staff vacancies
  • Ordinance 8.12 stipulates that there shall be 12 Professors with no fewer than two from each Faculty/School

  • Ordinance 8.12 stipulates that there shall be 12 non-professorial academic staff members of Academic Assembly with no fewer than two from each Faculty/School

  • Elected members have a duty to represent the University’s interests as a whole rather than the interests of any particular constituency.
