As Director of Studies (DoS), responsible for the academic and operational management of the MSc Applied Economics/MSc Applied Economics with Banking and Financial Institutions/MSc Applied Economics with Behavioural Science & MSc Applied Economics with Public Policy programmes. I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you to the University and to the Department. Below you will find some information about the induction programme that has been arranged for you.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week runs from Monday, 24 September – Sunday, 30 September. On Monday, 24 September at 12:15 – 13:05 BST you will have an introductory meeting for all new students in the Department. This will give you the opportunity to meet myself, our Senior Personal Tutor Dr Imran Shah, our administrators and your new fellow students.

Although exciting, many students find that the transition to study at a new institution can be challenging. We are here to support you so please let us know if you are having any difficulties or have any concerns and we will do our very best to assist you through this transitional period. You can contact:

All incoming students will also be allocated a Personal Tutor who will be responsible for providing pastoral and academic support. You will have an opportunity to meet your Personal Tutor during Welcome Week.

Choosing your optional units

You will be asked to select your optional unit choices during Welcome Week via our Student Record system. You will find out more information about how to do this during your Departmental induction talks. However, you may like to look at the Programme Catalogues online before you arrive, so you can see the options available on your programme. The catalogue for the forthcoming academic year is available from the second week of August.
