A Life Connected by Physics: A Tribute to Professor Darryl Almond
Part of the Minerva Series of Lectures
This lecture overviews the tremendous contribution of Professor Darryl Almond to the research profile of the University of Bath. Darryl had a unique ability to use his expertise in physics to undertake cutting edge research across a range of subjects in science and engineering. This included the electrical properties of materials, non-destructive evaluation of aerospace structures and new approaches to understand the emergent properties of complex systems. He was an accomplished fast bowler and even used his physics to publish seminal work on the impact of fluid dynamics on cricket ball swing. A life truly connected by physics, and sorely missed.
