In October, the Office for Students (OfS) released its consultation on a new approach to regulating equality of opportunity, which lays out proposed changes to Access and Participation plans for Higher Education Providers. The University is now in the process of rewriting it’s APP, and you can find out more about what this all means by visiting our consultation web pages
The Workshop
One of the key priorities in the APP rewrite process is to ensure that our new aims and objectives are built collaboratively with the university community, and to create spaces for staff to be able to contribute to the creation of the new APP in a meaningful way. To support with the rewrite of the Access and Participation Plan, we would like to invite you and your teams to attend an APP consultation workshop.
During the workshop you'll have the chance to input into:
- The Theory of Change
- The Outcomes Map (where we are asking you to map your activity against a set of overarching aims)
- Potential risks to equality of opportunity (that will inform the final risk register which the APP is based on)
There is some reading to do in preparation before the event, this will mean that we can spend more time collecting your input rather than disseminating information. You will be sent the information when you register.
Unable to attend the workshop?
If you’re unable to attend the online workshop, you can still have your say! We’ve created an online form, which will guide you through each section of the consultation, signpost the relevant pre-reading, and enable you to input your contribution. You should allocate around 1 hour to complete the reading and the form.
You can access the form here and will need to complete it by 1st January 2023. We’ll then collate all responses and include them in our analysis alongside the outputs from the in-person and online workshops to inform the APP re-write process.
