The Autumn Careers & Placements Fair is the largest annual in-person and on-campus careers fair of the year, open to all students and recent graduates regardless of course level and discipline. Event information and employers opportunities can be viewed on the Handshake platform, which appears online in full, or by the App (limited information) .
Downloading the App allows you to see who is attending and helps to inform you pre-event research. Over 200 employers are expected over 2 days - large and small, national and local, and from a range of sectors, including many new employers and a wider range of opportunities than ever before.
- Thursday - All Disciplines Day
- Friday - STEM Focus Day
Some employers are will attend both days . Use the Handshake platform to find out which day your favourite employers will be attending. You will be invited to register onto Handshake App from late September, and all employers will be booked by 6th October. After a 3 year break from in-person fairs we expect to be full both days and employers are really excited to be returning to campus.
What to expect
From late September you will be able to register on Handshake's App and will receive an invite from us via the Handshake system to your Bath email account. Please use your bath.ac.uk, (or bath.edu if a graduate) when you create your profile.
Each employer will have their own entry to view, which may differ in the App from the online version. You can use the tabs 'Filters' & 'Favourites' to help you prepare who you wish to speak to and manage your visits to them.
Some employers will only be on campus this year at the fair days so grab that conversation and put those really important recruitment questions to them. The Careers webpages have resources to help you prepare in advance.
Handshake App & online
As soon as you receive your introductory email, go to Handshake to set up your account and profile and start viewing booked employers. Check back in as more are added.
Get prepared
The Fair is a fantastic opportunity to speak directly to employers, discover new career options and get inspired.
To get the most out of the Fair, make sure you are well prepared, by thinking about what you want to ask. Consider some of the following suggestions:
- Read the information provided on the platform as well as each employers appointments listings, look at their website and Careers section.
- Make written notes for each employer you intend to meet with and note their responses afterwards. It's OK to ask them for an email contact too.
- Create yourself a calendar or 'to meet with' list for the day - check your timetable and prioritise your free time.
- Check your social media pages to ensure there is nothing there you would not want an employer to see - or 'add' what you do want them to see. Update / create a LinkedIn profile and add it to your profile for employers to see.
- Introduce yourself and smile.
