The Fair will be open from 11am-3pm daily. Details of the employers, their opportunities and who they are looking for will be published on the MyFuture event guide and on the App - CareerFairPlus from late September.
About the Employers
The Autumn Fairs tend to attract larger employers recruiting to big graduate programmes, placements and internships, usually starting the following summer. They are held in October to ensure they feature in the ‘recruitment window’ of a lot of employers, which is between August to late November.
The Autumn Fairs also provides a platform for employers to promote their brand to you. They may have upcoming or direct entry roles to which they hope to recruit over the coming academic year. In the last couple of years, we have seen an increased number of organisations move to a year-round rolling recruitment model based on business need.
But there is no one size fits all. The best way to explore recruitment windows is either:
- employer websites (or their social media channels or LinkedIn profile). This is great if there are specific organisations you are interested in applying to. There is often a plethora of information about the organisation, roles, values and mission as well as an opportunity to sign up to update emails. You may even see a named contact and wish to connect with them on LinkedIn.
OR
- if you would like to see when deadlines close more generally, you can monitor a website like Bright Network where you can search by sector. There are a range of job advert platforms available. The University pages of MyFuture contain job ads posted by employers who specifically want University of Bath students to apply!
About you
Fairs are not just about graduate recruitment! They are for practising networking, making professional connections, exploring ideas, challenging (or reinforcing) your pre-conceptions, doing market research, exploring other opportunities at represented organisations and sectors, building your LinkedIn network and much more. Fairs are for you and your own journey.
Wherever you are:
Download the App (CareerFairPlus, available for free on the App store and Google Play) to see who is coming and on what days (this might be the only time this employer is on campus so don’t miss an opportunity to meet them)
Plan what you want to get out of the Fair (practice, research, application follow up, identify opportunities, make connections)
Come along!
And remember, no experience is bad experience – if you do your research of all the options and can rule something 'out', that is a great experience in itself.
Fairs are open to all students and graduates at any stage and from any discipline. Many employers recruit from all disciplines taught at Bath so there is an opportunity for everyone to explore.
Accessibility
There will be a Careers stand where support will be available plus you can ask us the introduce you to an employer to start a conversation. This is known as our ‘Icebreaker’ offer.
There is a quiet area if you need to step out for a minute or have a quieter one-to-one conversation with an employer.
If you have any concerns or questions about accessibility at the event, please email us: recruit@bath.ac.uk
