Develop new networks and collaborations and strengthen existing ones in this area of research. Share ideas and discuss potential project ideas for further development
GWPore is a new community of researchers interested in all aspects of porous materials from four GW4 universities (Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Cardiff). The community comprises about 50-70 active participants working on all aspects of porous materials from synthesis, characterization, prediction and applications. The project will run from 1 August 2020 to 31 January 2021.
We will be organising four events during the project, starting with two virtual workshops in September to build the network and start conversations between the porous materials researchers. These workshops (one on porous materials for Energy applications and the other on porous materials for Environment and Healthcare) will focus on networking, idea generation, and funding identification. We hope this will lead to fruitful collaborations between the GW4 researchers working on porous materials.
Once we have identified several promising collaborative groups, these people will be invited to the dedicated writing retreat in November to start preparing funding bids. These will be facilitated by Research Development professionals to help build successful applications.
We will also organise a workshop in January, 2021, where all participants, including ECRs, will be invited to present their research, network, and help build their collaborations with other groups.
