The in-person workshop will help paradox scholars develop their work, identify future research opportunities and devise publication strategies.

Paradox research increasingly features across management scholarship to examine persistent tensions and key dilemmas that underpin organizational life. It can help to develop rich and important insights for education and practice. To support scholars developing their paradox research, we are hosting a one-day in-person workshop here at the School of Management.

We invite submissions from researchers seeking an in-person paradox forum, where they can present their work and receive tailored feedback from distinguished paradox experts and leading journal editors.

The workshop also complements the paradox community’s online Paradox Research, Education and Practice (PREP) conference, which is taking place online the week before (10-12 March 2025).

Programme

The programme will include expert paradox scholars speaking on future pathways for paradox research as well as editors of leading journals discussing the opportunities and pitfalls of publishing paradox research. Participants will have the opportunity to get expert feedback on submitted work.

Confirmed paradox experts include Russ Vince, Camille Pradies, Marc Krautzberger, Miguel Pina e Cunha and Marco Berti. Confirmed journal editors include Mairi Maclean, Andrew Brown, Jens Roehrich, Geoff Wood, Nancy Harding, Yasin Rofcanin and Dirk Lindebaum. More speakers and editors to be announced.

Submission information

Participants are invited to submit a long 1,000 word abstract by 14 December 2024. Please direct any questions to: paradox@bath.ac.uk

Authors will be informed of acceptance to the Bath workshop by 17 January 2025. In the event the workshop is oversubscribed, we will give priority to PhD and early career researchers.

We look forward to receiving your submissions!
