If you are a postgraduate student looking to enhance your academic writing skills and connect with peers across different courses then our Academic Writing Cafés are the perfect opportunity for you.
In these welcoming, peer-led sessions, you'll join a group of your choice to discuss an aspect of academic writing. Whether it’s getting over writer’s block, crafting literature reviews, or improving criticality, there's a group for everyone. These Cafés are designed to foster a sense of community, allowing you to learn from each other, share best practices, and meet new people.
The aim is to provide a supportive space where you can discuss your writing approaches and gain confidence before putting pen to paper. Please note, no actual writing will take place during the Cafés.
Topics
Each Café has a variety of topics to choose from. In April, you'll be able to join a table looking at:
- Writing management
- Criticality
- Clarity and coherence
- Building an argument
There are limited places available at each table, so make sure you book early to secure a place discussing the topic of your choice.
Exclusively for PGT students
Please remember that these Cafés are exclusively for PGT students, so if you're not a PGT you won't be able to book on to this event. If you're an undergraduate and would like to improve your academic writing, we recommend our Skills for Success Writing Toolkit workshops.
If you have any questions about the Writing Cafés, please get in touch.
