Research Culture Week: Lunch with Impact: Communicate with Industry

In this half-day workshop, researchers will learn a practical communication framework.

  • 30 Jun 2023, 9.30am to 30 Jun 2023, 12.30pm BST (GMT +01:00)
  • This is an online event.

In this half-day workshop, researchers will learn a practical communication framework and tool kit that will make them immediately more effective in industry-centric communications. This helps participants engage more confidently with businesses, translating their research and academic experience in a way that is relevant to businesses. Participants also learn how to network with purpose and create their own value proposition. As a result, participants realise an increased level of confidence, empowering them to pro-actively engage with industry.

This workshop will be held online (via Zoom) and is open to academics as well as postgraduate students from all disciplines at the University of Bath. Support staff who help to facilitate engagement with industry are also invited to participate.

Please note that the session will be interactive and will not be recorded on this occasion.

Presenter

Dr Jennifer Rao-Williams holds a PhD in Human Geography and an MReS in Sustainability Development and delivers training with Skillfluence. In addition to academia, Jennifer is also the founder and director of a manufacturing company that brings to the market alternative products that focus on the circular economy.

Lunch with Impact Workshops

This workshop is part of a series funded by the University’s Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Impact Acceleration Account (IAA), to support researchers in identifying, generating, evidencing and achieving impact from their research. Sessions are designed to enable attendees to apply the information, knowledge and tools to their own research.
