Join us for this roundtable discussion at the offices of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) in Brussels on Friday 2nd December 2022.

You will hear presentations on two recently published reports:

Technological change and growth regimes: Assessing the case for universal basic income (UBI) in an era of declining labour shares

Co-authored by Joe Chrisp, Aida Garcia-Lazaro and Nick Pearce. Published by the University of Bath Institute for Policy Research.

This report examines if technology is reducing the labour share in OECD countries and if the impact of technological change is mediated by national ‘growth regimes’. It assesses the case for a Universal Basic Income in light of this analysis.

The macroeconomics of basic income

Co-authored by Chris Thoung, Zsófi Kőműves and Jakub Zagdansk of Cambridge Econometrics. Published by The Cambridge Trust for New Thinking in Economics.

This report models the macroeconomics of Universal Basic Income in the UK economy, including one funded by Sovereign Money.

Presentations will be followed by an opportunity for discussion and debate.

A buffet lunch will be available for all participants from 12.30pm.
