This presentation is aimed at staff who are new to the University and/or are new to the area of student immigration, as well as staff who would like a refresher. It will give an overview of the student immigration system and the University’s responsibilities as a sponsor of students on Tier 4 visas.
The session will cover the immigration requirements and considerations at each stage of the student journey from application to post-graduation, including for those students who are on short-term study visas.
The work of the Student Immigration Service (SIS) will be explained and when and how to refer students for advice. We will also talk about how SIS has been providing support, guidance and advice to our EU / EEA student community and offering Settlement Scheme applications appointments.
This talk complements the "Staff Immigration Basics" staff training course which colleagues working with international students and applicants at the University are encouraged to do.
