Hosted by Research and Impact Services for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, this in-person session opens up a vital but often unspoken conversation: most research funding applications do not succeed. With success rates as low as one percent, rejection is far more common than acceptance — and it’s not always a reflection of your research’s quality.
This session offers a safe space to share experiences of failed applications and to explore the emotional and professional impact of rejection. We'll cover practical strategies to repackage your proposal for other calls, as well as long-term planning for navigating funding landscapes more effectively.
Some portions of the session will be recorded for future sharing via the Research Hub, and follow-up workshops can be arranged based on interest.
Join us to normalise failure, learn from it, and prepare smarter for your next application.
