With the implementation of the “Double Reduction” policy and related laws, the level of involvement of parents in Chinese compulsory education homework has not decreased; instead, it has unexpectedly expanded, leading them to shoulder increasingly broad responsibilities.
In this Centre for Research in Education in Asia (CREA) presentation, Professor Yali Wang, Professor and Vice Dean of the Teather’s College at Xi’an University, will examine the “Structure, Challenges, and Solutions of Parental Involvement in Homework” to analyze parents' diverse roles in homework processes, the primary challenges they encounter, and evidence-based recommendations for optimizing home-school collaboration. The findings aim to contribute to a more balanced distribution of educational responsibilities, ultimately supporting student autonomy and effective parental engagement in the academic landscape.
