Thursday will remain the ‘all sector’ careers & placements day, while Friday will be STEM sector specific.

What we offer

The 2018 Fair will be held in our large Sports Training Village on campus with a capacity for 212 stands over the two days. We expect a wide range of industrial, commercial and public sector employers. Students from all years and degree disciplines will be invited to the fair, which will be widely advertised across the campus. To attend on the Friday employers must have STEM vacancies. This is in recognition that our Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths students often want to pursue careers in those specialist areas.

Last year the footfall was over 5,000 students over the two days, from the whole range of degree subjects. Many students, particularly those in the final year, value the opportunity to talk informally to employers. Students seeking six or 12 month placements, summer internships & graduate positions are all encouraged to attend.

The fair is an important event in the annual careers programme, and employers find it a useful opportunity to attract high calibre applicants. This event is always oversubscribed, so we would advise early booking to ensure your place.

Cost

Please email recruit@bath.ac.uk for prices.

This includes:

  • Your stand space 3m wide x 2m deep, with table and two chairs (larger spaces available at extra cost and must be booked in advance). Tablecloths are not included.
  • Packed lunch and refreshments for two representatives (any extras will be chargeable).
  • 1 parking permit per employer and access to hall for unloading.
  • Portering and help from student helpers.
  • Standard text in our Fair App including company logo, which is available before the event.

Optional extras are:

  • Power supply if required at an extra cost and is subject to availability.
  • Sponsorship of the fair web page and featured employer status on the App - (sole, two agreed joint sponsors, or one of four).

The University of Bath aims to provide accessible venues for events. If you are a representative at a fair and you have any special support needs, please let us know in advance.

Arrivals

This information is for employers (or their couriers) booked to attend the fair on either Thursday 18 or Friday 19 October 2018 (or both days). The fair is open to students 11am-4pm on both days.

If you are using public transport and taking a taxi from Bath Spa train station, please ask for the University at Claverton Down, as there are two Universities in Bath.

Venue

Sports Training Village (STV). The fair is on the lower level – do not use the front entrance up the slope by the flagpoles. Details may be subject to change due to construction works.

Fair layout plan

Your stand numbers will be available upon arrival at the STV. Your pitch space is either 3m x 2m OR 1m square. Tressle tables for the standard pitch are 1.8m long - small pitch tables are 60cm square.

Couriers/deliveries and exhibitions companies

No deliveries before the day of the Fair. We cannot accept any deliveries into our office or the Fair venue before the day, nor hold onto any stands/goods for collection the following day.

If you are using a courier to bring your stand/other goods, they may only deliver direct to the venue on the day of the fair. Please forward them these details and ensure that all goods are labelled with the client (not courier) name.

If you are using CES, Ian Wilson, MSI or Impressions – we will liaise directly with them regarding directions and your stand locations.

Couriers may gain access from 8am and must collect goods within one hour of the end of the fair i.e. 5pm, as we cannot offer security of goods later than this. After that the hall is returned for sports use.

All goods must be delivered directly to the stand that you are allocated - not to the door - and any cars must be moved to the car park as soon as unloaded. Vehicles must not remain in the unloading area whilst stands are erected, as we need to allow others to gain access.

Unloading

If your own staff are bringing your stand or other goods in a car, please follow the signage on the day for Unloading. Student helpers will be on hand to assist you from 9am and again at the end of the day. You must move cars to the East Car Park (or other if full) as soon as you have unloaded.

Parking

Parking on campus is at a premium and spaces cannot be reserved. If you have not booked a parking space in advance, then please use public transport, and do not bring additional cars onto campus as it will be difficult to find a parking space. Parking fines may be issued (by an external company) to any cars who park in the wrong area/without a permit. Permits for second vehicles cannot be used. If you decide to bring a second car you must use the P&D area - the machines take cash, or via Just Park text & App. See the above Travel page linked for information & prices.

Please ensure you enter campus via the main entrance off Claverton Down Road. Use East Car Park as signposted. One permit, if requested will be emailed to your booking contact no later than two weeks before the fair. You may use any permit space other than the exclusions listed on the permit provided and you must bring and display this permit in your windscreen on the day.

Arrivals after 9.30am may have to use the East overflow section of the car park and, if you are bringing your own goods, it will be best to unload prior to parking as you will be further away from the Sports Training Village. Please note that we are not allocating a student to greet you as in previous years, so please familiarise yourself with arrangements prior to arrival.

Lunch

On arrival, please open your Welcome Pack. This will include lunch and drinks tickets for the number pre-booked. We cannot accept requests on the day for additional lunches, but there are various catering outlets/shops available in the STV building itself or elsewhere on campus, for you to purchase any additional lunches. Each representative will be issued with a voucher to obtain a hot drink in the lobby area. Water is also provided using four coolers - please bring a refillable container.

WiFi

WiFi is now accessible campus wide. The network 'The Cloud' is now broadcast throughout the University. The service is operated by Sky so those with a Sky account can automatically log in. Other users can sign up in advance by connecting through the 'The Cloud' and providing the required details to get an account.
