University of Bath

Autumn Telethon 2019

Everything callers need to know about interviews, training, pay and shifts.

Essential information

In order for the University to employ (and pay!) you, you MUST have a valid, completed contract. For this to happen you must provide your passport (with a valid visa if appropriate) at interview stage. You will then receive a PDF contract and a job offer. Please respond as quickly as possible to this, as it will enable you to be set up on the payroll system, so that you can raise time-sheets.

Paid: Yes. You'll get one hour's lunch break each day which isn't paid.

Pay is £9.00 per hour plus holiday pay, paid monthly in arrears. Please complete an e-timesheet see guidance and submit it weekly. Payroll cut off date to be paid in December is Thursday 5 December. Any timesheets received after this date will not be paid until January. Breaks (training days and weekend shifts) are not paid. Please enter these in your time sheet as two shifts e.g 10:00 – 13:00; 14:00 – 17:00 and not as one shift of 10:00 – 16:00.

We will e-mail the rota poll to you weekly on Tuesday morning. A link will be published to it on this page. There are limited spaces in each shift so if you have particular shifts you want to work in any week, you need to sign up quickly!

We ask you to work 12 shifts over the four weeks of the Telethon. This should be three shifts per week, and at least three weeks should include a weekend shift.

Once you have committed to a shift you are expected to turn up and work. If you are double-booked you need to resolve that problem yourself.

Shift times are variable each week and will be shown on the rota.

Occasionally you may be required to work until 21:30. All shifts take place in EB 0.9 unless you are told otherwise. Please arrive promptly and ready to work.

Tier 4 Visa

If you have a Tier 4 visa you may only work 20 hours per week. Any working hours booked on University of Bath jobs are managed through a centralised system to ensure that you cannot exceed your permitted hours and jeopardise your visa, but we cannot allow for any external jobs – if you also work anywhere else PLEASE let us know so that this can be managed. Please complete your e-timesheet after the hours have been worked.
