CONACyT Funding for students from Mexico
Details about a funding programme for Mexican students to undertake Doctoral programmes at Bath.
About the scholarships
The University has an agreement with the Mexican Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (CONACyT) to provide funding for new Mexican PhD students. The agreement covers all areas of studies and we are now inviting applications for the 2018/19 academic year.
Students admitted by the University and funded by CONACyT will receive a tuition fee contribution and a stipend towards living costs from CONACyT. The University will provide a 30% tuition fee discount for students sponsored by CONACyT.
However, there will be a shortfall in covering fees - expected to be around £3,000 in 2018/9 - which the student will have to pay. To obtain a visa, students will have to demonstrate they can cover this full amount of fees.
The stipend is significantly lower than the standard rate in the UK. Recent students coming to Bath were awarded £9,240 per annum by CONACyT. Students will need to have an additional source of funding to meet living expenses in Bath.
You should apply for admission to the University, following the normal application procedures and meeting all the standard admission requirements. The scheme is currently closed. We expect it to open in Autumn 2018. Please follow our guidance on how to apply.
Details of eligibility and how to apply for the funding from CONACyT can be found at the CONACyT website (in Spanish).
