An innovative leadership and development programme For Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Women in the GW4 Universities, from January – July 2021.
Call for Elevate Mentors: Deadline 5 February
We are now urgently seeking volunteers to act as mentors to Elevate participants. We are seeking up to twelve mentors (both academic and professional services staff) who have an interest and desire to offer mentoring support for our Elevate participants from across the GW4 Universities (Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter). Prospective mentors will need to have experience of navigating University systems and be willing to share their experience and insight.
As a mentor, your commitment would be to meet (online) four times with your mentee (each session lasting approximately one hour) between March through to the end of July 2021. You will be expected to come to a briefing session lasting up to 1.5 hours in the first week of March and will be joined by other mentors drawn from across the four institutions. As well as having access to mentoring resources, you will have an opportunity to come to a Mentor support session half-way through the Mentoring programme in May.
You do not need to be a woman from a BAME background to act as an Elevate mentor, but we would like to have a diverse cast of mentors so that participants are able to express their preference.
The matching process will be carried out in February and we will let you know if you’ve been matched with a mentee during the week 22-26 February.
The Elevate Programme

It is aimed at BAME female staff across all staff groups, with the intention of enabling better career opportunities for a population that is often under-represented. All four Universities will run the same application process to find candidates.
In Bath the eligible group is in grades 6-8 in the Education and Research job family, and grades 4-8 in all other job families.
