Booking a place on a workshop

All of our workshops can be accessed through the DoctoralSkills Programme.

Once you have found the workshop you would like to attend, following the booking link, you will then be prompted to log in to your SAMIS account using your university username and password.

To complete your booking, follow the on-screen instructions and remember to click 'confirm' at the end. You will receive an automated confirmation email, followed by a pre-course reminder two to three days before the course. If it is fully booked, you will be offered a place on a waiting list.

Please remember to add this to your calendar. The Doctoral Development Team will do this too, but there will be a delay in this happening due to the volume of courses every week.

If you have registered for a workshop but not yet received a confirmation email or a pre-course reminder, please email us at doctoralskills@bath.ac.uk

Please be aware that students who repeatedly register for courses and then fail to attend may be reported to their Director of Studies.

Managing and cancelling your bookings

You can view and manage your workshops bookings via SAMIS. Once you have logged in, you will need to scroll down the SAMIS student homepage until you find a section called "DoctoralSkills courses" where you will be able to:

• view waiting list bookings
• view and print your development attendance certificate (these are workshops that you have attended through the programme but also your own development activities you have added)
  • view or cancel current bookings

To cancel a booking

If you cannot attend a workshop, then it is important that you cancel your place. Most doctoral students will be able to do this through SAMIS, however if you are a MRes student then you will need to email doctoralskills@bath.ac.uk.

Instructions for cancelling a place on SAMIS

You can cancel your place on a workshop at any time before the course starts via SAMIS. Once you have logged in to SAMIS, go to the "DoctoralSkills courses" section and click the link to view the list of workshops that you are booked on to. Against each workshop, there will be an option to cancel your booking.

Click the link and confirm your cancellation. You will then be sent an email to confirm the cancellation. If you do not receive this email please log back in to ensure that you have cancelled your booking correctly.
