Independent Language Learning
Find out about our dedicated study space, services and resources for learning languages.
We are a study space dedicated to language study and activities and we are situated on Level 3 of the Library (rooms 3.10, 3.10A and 3.10B) near the back staircase. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The easiest way to access us is through the Library rear staircase.
In room 3.10 you will find nine PCs for you to use. Some of these are connected to a DVD or a VHS player and to a large plasma screen. There is also a whiteboard available. In 3.10A there are three PCs, one DVD player and a whiteboard in a separate smaller room.
Peer Assisted Learning for Languages (PAL)
This programme can help you to develop your language and intercultural skills, either as a participant or as a session leader. The sessions take place at the Language Learning Zone.

We offer a language exchange programme, so you can find a language partner to practise with.

The printed resources are shelved outside the Language Learning Zone on Level 3 between the architecture and literature journals. Our DVDs are located on level 2 on the right hand side of the Library, just past the Issue Desk. You can borrow these resources for different periods of time. You can also find language magazines inside the Language Learning Zone and newspapers in different languages on Level 2 near the entrance of the Library.
