Newspapers kept by the Library

A summary of the UK and International newspaper titles regularly received in print by the Library to support study and research at the University of Bath.

Online access to newspapers

Our staff and students can access a huge range of newspapers online.

The Library's Nexis subscription provides full-text access to the international press, including major world newspapers and the trade/advertising press. Read our short guide for more information on finding specific newspapers on Nexis.

UK and International newspapers, including many popular UK broadsheets such as:

  • The Daily Telegraph
  • The Guardian
  • The Independent
  • The Times
  • The Sunday Times

EMIS is an emerging markets platform providing company, country and industry intelligence. It includes 9,000 local news sources from 173 countries/regions. To find the news stories, choose the ‘countries’ tab and then ‘latest news’.

Financial Times – we have access to 24 years’ worth of FT articles via the ABI/Inform global database. The quickest route in is to search for FT articles in our Library catalogue and follow links to View Online. Please note that there is an embargo on content from the most recent 30 days.

If you need the most recent FT content, you can use our separate subscription. requires you to register using your University of Bath email address. The FT charges us based on usage. Please help us keep costs down by searching for FT content via our catalogue in the first instance.

ABI/Inform also includes hundreds of other newspapers and magazines, including for example The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and Sloan Management Review. You can also find these titles in our Library catalogue.

Time Higher Education (THE) – our subscription to the electronic version of the THE provides unrestricted access to their news and commentary, university rankings, World Summit Series and more.

To quickly access the full content online and for free, you will need to follow the link for online access provided via the Library catalogue THE record.

From the catalogue record page you then need to:

  • Select the Times Higher Education logo the (red user account symbol at the top right of the web page)
  • Select Register to set up a personal THE account using your University email address
  • enter your preferred username and password for use when logging-in to THE
  • (Optional) you can also choose to receive newsletter during the registration process
  • Select Join Us to complete the registration

Printed newspapers

Current newspapers are available from wall-mounted racks on Level 2, near the Issue Desk. We keep back copies for a limited time in the Level 2 Group Study area (all British newspapers are kept for 3 months on Level 2).   Please check the Library Catalogue to confirm the available coverage.
