On Track to Bath: Electrical & Electronic Engineering Track
A free one-year curriculum enhancement programme for students considering Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
The On Track to Bath Electrical & Electronic Engineering Track is for students considering a future in electrical engineering.
Discover what it means to be at the forefront of electrical engineering. Develop your skills and understanding to develop a critical analysis of where renewable energy sources should be placed for maximum benefit using worldwide weather datasets which are updated hourly.
By joining On Track to Bath’s Electrical & Electronic Engineering Track, you will work alongside students and staff to gain first-hand experience of university research. You will receive advice and support in making a successful application and progression to university from computer scientists.
What you can expect from this track
You will attend a programme of sessions during which you will have the opportunity to:
- find out about studying electrical and electronic engineering at Bath
- gain experience using big data and analysing it to make decisions
- improve your maths and find out why it is so important in electrical engineering
- get advice and support from engineers to help you successfully apply to university
Academic research project
Through undertaking an academic research project you will develop essential skills and practices for studying at university level and enhance your understanding of your subject area.
During the programme, your Coordinating Tutor will guide you through the process of designing your own research. You'll learn about the importance of data in planning large engineering projects, design a research question, plan your research and then use our fantastic data sources to undertake the project and answer your research question
The project will also help students who want to go on and take the Extended Project at AS level.

This track is suitable for those considering taking a degree in subjects such as Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Please see our course information for full details.
To be eligible you will need to be academically-able to access courses at the University of Bath in your chosen subject (you need a minimum of six GCSEs at grades A* to B or 9 to 6 with English and Maths grades at least C or 4). You should also meet one or more of our Widening Participation criteria.
For the Electrical & Electronic Engineering Track, you must be studying A level Mathematics and a second Science or Technology subject.
