Pathway to Bath - Business

Find out more about the Business stream of Pathway to Bath

The Business strand of the Pathway to Bath programme will run March to December and will support you to make a strong application to the University of Bath. Throughout the year you will have online activities every 2 weeks that will take 2-3 hours to complete.

You will undertake a project where you will design and build a business to create an app, you will get support with how businesses are created as well as getting direct access to current university students who will guide you through the process building your business plan as well as giving advice on choosing and applying to university. Each student on the programme will be assigned an e-mentor who is a current student at Bath studying a Business subject.

Business Project

You will work in small groups to take a basic idea (a mobile app) and develop it into a fully researched business proposal, which you will then deliver as a team to a panel of experts in a similar format to the BBC's Dragon's Den. Each member of the group will be given a role and will be responsible for delivering a specific area of the proposal.

Each session will support you with the process of designing your own business and give you the relevant knowledge you will need to successfully produce a business plan.

To be eligible for the Business strand of Pathway to Bath you must meet our Widening Participation criteria and be studying both essay-based and numerical or analytical subjects. For example both a mathematical or science subject and a humanities subject. Some subjects, such as Economics, may demonstrate both skills. You must also be academically able to apply for one of the Business or management courses at Bath.
