About this course

This session is designed to equip managers with some practical tools to translate their strategy into performance.

To be effective a strategy must be shared with teams and engage them in finding ways to contribute on a daily basis. By bridging the gap between strategy and daily activity this course will enable you to improve how your team delivers your strategic plans via practical activities and tools.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • translate a strategic objective into an operational plan
  • identify the behaviours required to support delivery
  • develop meaningful objectives
  • be able to track delivery against strategy

Pre work

Please note that this course has approximately 1hour of pre work: you will need to review the University Strategy, your department strategy and the current action plans for your own team in advance of the course.

Effective Behaviours Framework (EBF)

The Effective Behaviours Framework (EBF) has nine key behavioural areas. This course will help you to develop skills and knowledge related to the EBF behavioural groups highlighted below:

  • Achieving results
  • Engaging with the wider context
  • Working together

Please note that attending the course does not provide evidence of achieving these behaviours; you will need to demonstrate them by applying your skills and knowledge.

Who should attend

The course is aimed at managers in departments who play a key role in translating the University’s and their Departmental strategies into operational plans for teams.
