Student Living programme of activities

Get involved with our activities to meet other students living in halls.

All events are free and open to all new students living in University halls, unless otherwise stated.

You need to book a place for each activity.

Events are hosted by our Student Living Assistants and the Student Living Support Team.

Knitting and crochet group

Suitable for all abilities interested in learning or practicing their knitting or crochet skills.

Each week will focus on creating a new project (alternating between knitting and crochet), with SLAs introducing new techniques and alteration ideas to help you adapt patterns and come up with your favourite designs.

There will be wool, hooks and needles provided for each session but feel free to bring along your own project if you want to just meet people and have a free cup of tea!

Classes take place every Thursday from 5pm to 7pm at the Student Living Support Lounge in Polden block C.

The first session will be on Thursday the 27th October and we will be knitting headbands using a ribbing stitch. Perfect for beginners!

This is a recurring booking, as these sessions will be taking place every week throughout term time. By signing up you are showing an interest in attending multiple sessions. Once your booking is confirmed, you will be given card access to the space for the duration of the class.

Cooking lessons

An opportunity to brush up on your cooking skills. Join some of our campus hospitality team, SLAs and other fellow students to learn simple, delicious and cost efficient recipes. At the end of the lesson we will supply a recipe card for the meal, which you can take over to Fresh and buy the ingredients to make it at home.

Please note: There are 2 classes available for each recipe, so please make sure when signing up below you do not pick the same meal twice. If you have a specific food allergen need, please be aware we cannot guarantee a completely allergen free environment or product.

Yoga sessions

Sign up for free weekly yoga in the Student Living Support Lounge in Polden, Monday 7.15pm to 8pm. Spaces are limited and are given on a first come first serve basis. After you have submitted this form, you will receive a calendar invite to confirm your booking.

Aerobics sessions

Sign up for free weekly gentle, low impact aerobics in the Student Living Support Lounge in Polden, Wednesday 2.30pm to 3.15pm. Spaces are limited and are given on a first come first serve basis. After you have submitted this form, you will receive a calendar invite to confirm your booking.

Salsa for beginners

Learn how to Salsa in a fun and social environment with Cristina López García. Classes run every Wednesday 7pm to 8pm in the Student Living Support Lounge in Polden.
