Summer Opportunities Fair: information for employers

Event dates & timings

This fair will be held in Spring term 2021 virtually, date/s TBC in March, possibly over more than one day but in the same week, as a series of webinars.

What we offer

The Summer Opportunities Fair is where employers and providers can promote their summer work experience, summer internship, volunteering, or travel programmes to the current students of Bath, and this year also employers looking for students graduating in May looking for graduate internships or full-time permanent work.

The Fair provides a showcase for students to research and identify opportunities available to them in the summer months 2021, whether they are returning in October – or for some – leaving University and starting full-time work. It will be advertised to all disciplines and years including those graduating in 2021 – and postgraduates, and is a closed event for Bath students and graduates only (returning graduates would be allowed to attend if they requested). This is still to be decided whether it will be delivered over more than one day in the same week - depending on demand - as a series of webinars.


The cost includes: (to be amended for virtual provision)

  • Your pitch space 3m wide x 2m deep, with a trestle table (1.8m long) and two chairs. Tablecloths are not included.
  • Packed lunch and refreshments for one or two representatives (any extras will be chargeable).
  • One parking permit per employer and access to venue for unloading.
  • Standard entry in our Fair online programme including company logo, which is made available to students before the event.

Optional chargeable extras are:

  • Power supply if required.
  • Sponsorship of the fair web page.

The University of Bath aims to provide accessible venues for events. If you are a representative at a fair and you have any special support needs, please let us know in advance.

Employers and couriers can arrive from 8am to set up. The fair is open to students 10am – 3pm.

Where to find us

Postcode – BA2 7PJ – via Norwood Avenue, which will direct you to the correct area of campus. Follow signs for Unloading on the day. If you are using public transport and taking a taxi from Bath Spa train station, please ask for the University at Claverton Down, as there are two Universities in Bath.

Fair layout plan

Your stand numbers will be available upon arrival. Your pitch space is 3m wide x 2m deep, no height restriction. Trestle tables provided are 1.8m long x 76cm high – please bring a tablecloth if using one.

Couriers/deliveries and exhibitions companies

No deliveries before the day of the Fair please – we cannot accept any deliveries into our office or the Fair venue before the day, nor hold onto any stands/goods for collection the following day.

If you are using a courier to bring your stand/other goods, they may only deliver direct to the venue on the day of the fair after 8am and collect before 4pm as we cannot offer security of goods later than this. After the fair, the hall is returned for sports use. Please forward them these details and ensure that all goods are labelled with the client (not courier) name.

If you are using CES, Ian Wilson, Impressions or MSI, we will liaise directly with them regarding directions and your stand locations.

All goods must be delivered directly to the pitch you are allocated – not to the door – and any cars must be moved to the car park as soon as unloaded. Vehicles must not remain in the unloading area whilst stands are erected, as we need to allow others to gain access.


If your own staff are bringing your stand or other goods in a car, please follow the signage on the day for Unloading. Employer Team staff will be on hand to assist you from 8am. You must move cars to the East Car Park (or other if full, please ring Victoria on 07891 790132) as soon as you have unloaded.


Parking on campus is at a premium and spaces cannot be reserved. If you have not booked a parking space in advance, then please use public transport, and try to avoid bringing additional cars onto campus as it will be difficult to find a parking space. Parking fines may be issued (by an external company) to any cars who park in the wrong area/without a permit. Permits for second vehicles cannot be used. If you decide to bring a second car you must use the P&D area – the machines take cash, or via Just Park text and App. See the above Travel page linked for information and prices.

Please ensure you enter campus via the main entrance off Claverton Down Road. Use East Car Park as signposted. One permit, if requested will be emailed to your booking contact no later than one week before the fair. You may use any permit space other than the exclusions listed on the permit provided, and you must bring and display this permit in your windscreen on the day.

Arrivals after 9.30am may have to use the East overflow section of the car park or be redirected to another car park and, if you are bringing your own goods, it will be best to unload prior to parking as you will be further away from the Sports Training Village.


On arrival, please collect your Welcome Pack. This will include lunch and drinks tickets for the number pre-booked. We cannot accept requests on the day for additional lunches, but there are various catering outlets/shops available in the STV building itself or elsewhere on campus, for you to purchase any additional lunches. Each representative will be issued with a voucher to obtain a hot drink. Water is also provided using a cooler – please bring your own refillable bottle.
