About this accommodation

Woodland Court is a self-contained, self-catered complex consisting of five blocks, with accommodation for 353 first year undergraduate students.

It is on the east side of campus, a seven-minute walk to the Library and Students' Union.

Woodland Court has:

  • secure swipe card access to buildings, flats and bedrooms
  • en-suite bathrooms
  • accessible bedrooms
  • launderette
  • secure bike storage


En-suite shower rooms

The bedrooms in Woodland Court give you personal space to work, relax and rest.

Each room has:

  • small 122cm x 183cm double bed with reading light
  • en-suite shower, toilet and sink
  • desk, chair and drawers
  • high-speed Wi-Fi and ethernet
  • built-in wardrobe
  • bookshelves
  • noticeboard

En-suite shared rooms

There is also shared accommodation in Woodland Court.

These bedrooms are shared by two people and have:

  • two standard 91cm x 183cm single beds
  • en-suite shower, toilet and sink
  • desks, chairs and drawers
  • high-speed Wi-Fi and ethernet
  • built-in wardrobes
  • bookshelves
  • noticeboard

Kitchens and dining

Each floor has a large communal kitchen with:

  • electric hobs
  • ovens
  • grills
  • fridge-freezers
  • toaster
  • kettle
  • plenty of cupboard storage space
  • large dining table and chairs
  • recycling facilities

Accommodation for students with disabilities

If you have a disability, there are 27 large accessible study bedrooms in Woodland Court designed to meet your needs.

All rooms have en-suite shower rooms with a range of adaptations including baths, wet rooms, grab rails, pull cords, raised toilets and wheelchair charge points.

We can make further adaptions to rooms if necessary.

Room numbers

Woodland Court is made up of eight buildings. Each has three or four floors with 18 bedrooms on.

Your room details contain your building, floor, block, flat and room number.

For example, the room number W1A1.01 means you are located in Woodland Court, floor one, block A, flat one, room one.

You are responsible for keeping your rooms clean and tidy. You can buy extra cleaning services for your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

Hall Representatives

At the start of the academic year you can elect a Hall Representative.

The Students’ Union supports Hall Representatives to organise social and community-building events.

Hall Representatives collect student feedback about living in the accommodation. They discuss this with the University and the Students’ Union to make sure your voices are heard.
