The EPSRC Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) and Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies (SCT) are EPSRC-funded training centres at the University of Bath that will each train 50 to 70 PhD students in five cohorts (annual intake into the CDT in each of the next five years is 10-14 students with 50-60 students in the Centres at steady state). All students within the CDT undertake a 4-year integrated PhD in SCT, involving both research and training. The job will be to provide dedicated support in information and communications technologies for the CDT community including staff, students and external partners and consultancy for those managing similar PhD student cohorts across the University. In addition, the Digital Communications Co-ordinator will manage the ‘outward facing’ aspects of these large centres, including the web presence, press releases and liaison with the University and industrial communities engaged with the Centres.

We seek a highly motivated individual with demonstrated ability in the development and maintenance of computer-based resources in a higher education environment and a flair for communicating in both traditional written forms, e.g. press releases, and using electronic media including twitter and blogs in a professional environment.

The successful applicants will be able to communicate effectively with postgraduate students, academics and industrial partners of the Centres and will be committed to becoming part of the wider university community dedicated to exposing the research and training of the university externally to the public, prospective students and industry. In addition, they will need to be exhibit the ability to manage their own time effectively, proactively engage with staff students and externally, be self-motivated and be able to work independently, as well as use their own initiative to develop new routes for publicising the work of the Centres.
