Interviews are likely to take place in the first half of November

The Experimental Officer will support the experimental research associated with a collaborative research project in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover and Shell Global Solutions. This projects aims to investigate a wide variety of combustion and performance parameters associated with a heavily downsized gasoline engine.

You will provide experimental/technical research for the project. In the initial phase of the work, this will require you to support design and development, installation and commissioning of experimental facilities, and also provide support across the Powertrain and Vehicle Research Centre group.

Later in the project you will be required to provide software and hardware support for the transient engine dynamometer and emissions measurement equipment. At this stage you will also be required to implement the design and set up of experiments on the facility and to assist and support academic and research staff, research students, and research projects.

The Experimental Officer will report to academics within the PVRC at the University of Bath. Essential qualities for this post are –

  • excellent analytical skills
  • excellent written communication skills
  • experience in the field of vehicle emissions test is essential
  • an excellent understanding, and practical experience, of IC engine performance and testing
  • good interpersonal skills and the aptitude to work closely with industrial partners

Fixed Term Basis of up to 2 years.
