The Water Efficiency (WATEF) Network promotes an interdisciplinary approach to solving problems of water (and energy) efficiency and resilience. It provides a forum to collaboratively explore the supply, treatment, distribution, risk monitoring, improved efficiency and conservation of water within the built environment. It also investigates the challenges to improving the adaptive capacity of building users, providers and professionals and consequently facilitate long-term, adaptable water efficiency through behaviour change and the use of technology.

To achieve its aims, the network:

  • Promotes independent, multi-disciplinary water efficiency research within the academic community
  • Encourages knowledge transfer between academia, policy makers and regulators, third sector organisations and the building and water industries
  • Contributes to the evidence base for water efficiency and resilience by building on existing knowledge developed by the water industry, government and delivery bodies and academia

The network has over 350 members worldwide and it is important that the operational and communicative link with members is maintained as they collectively work together to achieve the network's goals. It has been in operation since 2011, and this role will help to assure its success and longevity for future years.

The Project Coordinator oversees all the day-to-day operations of the network. This covers the broad scope of customer service to members, responding to enquiries, organising events, managing budgets and finances, preparing reports as well as managing and maintaining all the network's communications outlets e.g. website and social media, and dissemination activities. The project coordinator also administers and/or coordinates the research projects undertaken by the network, particularly the REDAWN project which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme. Project roles will include communication and dissemination, making sure that the funder's guidelines are adhered to, and that the projects are delivered in a timely and effective manner.

The duties pertaining to the network can vary and is sometimes bespoke. Therefore, the successful candidate will have a significant track record of working in a similar roles. He/she will also enjoy flexible working, and will be willing to travel when required and work outside of normal hours when necessary.

The post is part time (2.5 days per week), with a requirement to work these hours flexibly.  It is being offered on a fixed term contract basis with an expected duration of 36months from the agreed start date.
