About us:

Research and teaching in the Department of Psychology occurs across five clusters: social and environmental psychology, clinical psychology, cognitive science, development and psychopathology, and health psychology. We are based in a new £30m purpose-built facility, containing two floors of state-of-the-art labs for interview, group observation, EEG/ERP, virtual reality, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal and computerised testing.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, staff in the department were returned in different units of assessment, the largest of which (Allied Health Professions) obtained the highest REF2014 rating across the whole University. The University was ranked 12th overall in the UK in REF2014. The Department was recently ranked 2nd in the 2020 Complete University Guide.
