Are you passionate about leveraging University research to support innovation for fast growing companies? Have a desire to deliver real economic impact through growth company and academic engagement? This role at the University of Bath provides a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new three year programme supporting scale-up companies to accelerate their growth through innovation, investment and partnership delivering economic impact into the UK economy.

This three year contract is part of a £5m programme, supported by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, working as part of the research and innovation services team in Bath the role will also be part of a virtual team of Innovation Advisors at each of the five Universities in the SETsquared Partnership – Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey and engaging directly with fast growing companies in the scale-up programme through the four SETsquared sector managers. This role requires genuine enthusiasm and empathy for the innovation challenges faced by scale-up companies together with knowledge of R&D grants and experience of mining the research capabilities within a University. The role will require engaging the university’s researchers with the scale-up companies and highlighting research capabilities to the companies to develop successful Research, Development & Innovation (R,D & I) collaborations.  
SETsquared is the long standing enterprise partnership between the five Universities and its incubator programme has been recognised as the Number 1 University Business Incubator in the world (UBI Index, 2016). Over the last decade it has helped over 1,500 high-tech start-ups to develop and raise more than a £1.25bn of investment. Independent research carried out by Warwick Economics estimates the economic impact of SETsquared member companies to be £3.8bn over this period, with the creation of 9,000 jobs and that these companies will go on to deliver a further £8.6bn of impact to the UK economy in the decade ahead. 
This role will help develop SETsquared’s offering beyond start-ups to scale-ups across Southern England and is a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to be part of this new stage in the Partnership’s growth. 
This is a part time (0.5 FTE), fixed-term role until March 2021.
