The School of Management invites applications for two posts, each EITHER in Accounting OR in Finance. One at the level of Lecturer (Assistant Professor), the other at the level of Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor). We seek two new colleagues with research and teaching interests in financial accounting OR in management accounting OR in finance.

The School of Management is a vibrant and productive community and is ranked among the top UK Business Schools. It was ranked 8th in the UK for Business and Management Studies, including 6th in the UK for world class and internationally-leading publications, in the results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. It was ranked 2nd for Accounting and Finance (The Sunday Times 2018).

The two successful applicants will be expected to be included in the School’s REF2021 submission with at least two papers for the submission already published in 3/4/4* journals at the time of application. A single 4 or 4* for REF2021 might be sufficient for a lectureship, given a credible research pipeline. Papers accepted for publication will also be counted during short-listing if proof of acceptance is provided. For the senior post, candidates should have greater teaching experience and a longer career-list of papers, preferably with at least one paper for the REF2021 at 4 or 4* level in an accounting journal or in a finance journal as listed in the ABS2015 journal rankings.

Past unsuccessful candidates for other posts, now filled, who did not previously meet these criteria but now do, are encouraged to apply.

The 2 new colleagues will join the Division of Accounting, Finance & Law. Potential candidates are encouraged to view the Division’s web page at http://www.bath.ac.uk/management/faculty/division.html#acc_fin_law to assess their potential fit. The School has access to data as you would expect, including Datastream, CRSP, Compustat and the WRDS platform but also many others, such as Audit Analytics, BoardEx, CSMAR China data, Eventus, London LSPD, Markit, Mergent FISD, MFLinks, Option Metrics, and daily TAQ data.

Bath is located only 100 miles west of London (under an hour and a half by train to St Pancras Station) and is easily accessible by air, road and rail. The University of Bath is situated on a hill, surrounded by attractive countryside, overlooking the City of Bath, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage City, famous for its Georgian architecture and Roman Baths. The University campus is safe and friendly, with excellent sports facilities.

These are full-time posts with start date by agreement on or before October 2018.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor David Newton, Head of the Accounting, Finance and Law Division (email d.p.newton@bath.ac.uk)
