We are looking to appoint a Technical Supervisor for the technical support team in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bath. This is an exciting opportunity in a varied and exciting work environment at the forefront of international cutting-edge research and world-class teaching.

This is a hands-on role, supervising a team of staff members working across a diverse group of laboratories and workshop facilities. You should be able to drive the team to provide effective and pro-active support of the research and teaching agenda of the Department.

With excellent communication and organisational skills you will lead the technical team across the Department’s main experimental research themes; Analytical, Fundamentals, Health, Interfaces, Materials and Transformations. Ideally, you will have experience and practical knowledge in one of these main areas.

Alongside these more practical duties you will assist the Technical Manager and Head of Department in establishing best practice, promoting excellent health & safety culture and creating a positive working environment. As such, you will need a wider understanding of the compliance and health & safety requirements in a busy Chemistry Department.

You will also be expected to use your own experience and skills in delivering core technical activities in the Department. The role will also involve working with academic staff to facilitate the smooth running of the laboratory classes and to assist with the development of teaching activities in the department.

The University of Bath overlooks the world-heritage city of Bath - with the city centre only 1 mile from campus. On-site you will find amenities including shops, restaurants, cafes, banks and the world-class Sports Training Village. It is an innovative, successful and rewarding place to work and develop your career. Other benefits include a generous leave entitlement, pension schemes, a wide range of learning and development opportunities and various staff discounts. We maintain open communication across the engineering and science faculties and the greater campus creating a welcoming community in which to work, meet and share good practice.

For additional information about the role please contact Dr Marianne Harkins or Malcolm Holley, however, please ensure that all applications are submitted via the University website.
