The Department of Physics at the University of Bath is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated physics professional to work as an Ogden Outreach Fellow, funded by The Ogden Trust. This is a part time (0.5 FTE) fixed term post for three years.

The main purpose of this role is to work alongside staff within the Department of Physics as well as with the University’s Widening Participation Office, to develop, co-ordinate and deliver physics outreach activities, with the primary aim of encouraging young people to continue their study of physics.

The post holder will work closely with The Ogden Trust and local Ogden Science partnerships to improve the educational opportunities for young people who are inspired by physics. You will develop and deliver teaching materials for demonstrations and classroom activities targeted at increasing interest and participation in physics at all levels. You will also help to co-ordinate and run Ogden Trust programmes at a local or regional level.

The role will be particularly focused on widening participation in physics, including increasing the proportion of female physics students, both at school and in higher education.

You may also be involved in some aspects of undergraduate physics teaching within the Department, including facilitating the transition from A-level to undergraduate study, and supporting students’ and staff involvement in outreach and public engagement activities with young people.

As this role involves working with young people, the successful applicant will need to complete a satisfactory DBS check before commencing in post.

For informal enquiries about this role, please contact Dr Frances Laughton (Director of Teaching, f.r.laughton@bath.ac.uk, or call 01225 384361).

Please make all applications via the University of Bath website.
